Ithaca is a city located in the state of New York within the United States. It is situated on the southern shore of Cayuga Lake in the Finger Lakes region of Upstate New York.
The city serves as the county seat of Tompkins County and is the largest community within the Ithaca metropolitan statistical area. As of the 2020 census, the city had a population of 32,108.
The city takes its name from the Greek island of Ithaca, which is famously known as the home of the protagonist Odysseus in Homer's Odyssey.
