Cooperstown is a village located in the Central New York Region of the United States. It serves as the county seat of Otsego County and is situated at the foot of Otsego Lake. Geographically, the village is positioned approximately 60 miles west of Albany, 67 miles southeast of Syracuse, and 145 miles northwest of New York City.
The village territory is primarily located within the town of Otsego, though a portion of its eastern section lies within the town of Middlefield. As of the 2020 census, Cooperstown had a population of 1,794 residents.
