Canton is an incorporated town located in St. Lawrence County, New York, in the United States. As of the 2020 census, the town had a population of 11,638 residents.
The town contains two villages: one named Canton and the other named Rensselaer Falls. It is named after the port of Canton in China. The area serves as the home for St. Lawrence University and the State University of New York at Canton. Additionally, the Canton Central School District is based within the village of Canton.
