Bayonne is a city located in Hudson County, New Jersey, positioned on Bergen Neck, a peninsula bounded by Newark Bay to the west, the Kill Van Kull to the south, and New York Bay to the east. It is situated in the Gateway Region of New Jersey.
According to the 2020 U.S. Census, Bayonne had a population of 71,686, making it the 15th-most-populous municipality in New Jersey. This represented significant growth from the 2010 census count of 63,024 residents, an increase of 8,662 people or 13.7 percent. The 2010 figure itself had grown modestly from 61,842 in 2000, reflecting a 1.9 percent increase over that decade. The Census Bureau's Population Estimates Program projected the city's population at 74,532 for 2024, ranking it as the 517th-most populous municipality nationally.
