Salisbury is a city located in the Piedmont region of North Carolina, United States. Situated approximately 25 miles (40 km) northeast of Charlotte, it is part of the Charlotte metropolitan area and has experienced a growing population in recent years.
The city serves as the county seat of Rowan County. It has held this status since 1753, a time when the county's territory extended as far west as the Mississippi River. According to the 2020 census, the city had a population of 35,580 residents.
