Grand Rapids is a city located in the state of Minnesota within the United States. It serves as the county seat for Itasca County, and according to the 2020 census, the city had a population of 11,126.
The city's name originates from a 3.5-mile long stretch of rapids on the Mississippi River. During the late 19th century, these rapids marked the uppermost limit for practical steamboat travel. Currently, the rapids are situated beneath the dam operated by the UPM Paper Company.
