At the 2020 census, Flint had a population of 81,252, making it the largest city in Genesee County and the 12th-most populous city in Michigan. The 2024 estimate placed the city's population at 79,735.
The Flint metropolitan area, which lies entirely within Genesee County, had a population of 406,892 in the 2020 census, making it the fourth-largest metro area in Michigan.
