Clinton is an unincorporated census-designated place located in Prince George's County, Maryland, in the United States. It is situated adjacent to several neighboring areas, including Camp Springs, Rosaryville, Melwood, and Andrews Air Force Base.
The community has undergone several name changes throughout its history; it was originally known as Surrattsville before being renamed Robeystown from 1865 to 1878. It eventually became known by its current name, Clinton. As of the 2020 census, the population of the area was 38,760.
The location is historically significant for its role during the American Civil War, specifically in connection to the assassination of Abraham Lincoln. This historical association remains one of the site's most notable characteristics.
