Pittsfield is a city located in the state of Massachusetts within the United States. It serves as the county seat of Berkshire County and functions as the primary city within the Pittsfield, Massachusetts Metropolitan Statistical Area, which encompasses the entirety of Berkshire County.
As of the 2020 census, the city had a population of 43,927. While its population has experienced a decline in recent decades, it remains the third-largest municipality in Western Massachusetts, surpassed only by the cities of Springfield and Chicopee.
