The city of Franklin is located in Norfolk County, Massachusetts, in the United States. It is one of thirteen municipalities within the state that have adopted a city form of government while choosing to retain "the town of" as part of its official title.
As of 2022, the city had a population of 36,745, reflecting a growth rate of 15.38% since 2015. The city is notable for housing the Franklin Public Library, which holds the distinction of being the country's first public library; its initial collection was donated by Benjamin Franklin in 1790.
