Georgetown is a home rule-class city located in Scott County, Kentucky, in the United States. As of the 2020 census, it had a population of 37,086, making it the sixth-most populous city in the state of Kentucky. It serves as the county seat for Scott County.
The city was originally named Lebanon when it was founded by Reverend Elijah Craig. It was subsequently renamed Georgetown in 1790 to honor President George Washington. Historically, the area attracted settlers due to its proximity to Royal Spring.
