Indianola is a city located in the state of Iowa within the United States. It serves as the county seat of Warren County and is situated approximately 19 miles south of downtown Des Moines.
As of the 2020 census, the city had a population of 15,833. The community is home to Simpson College and hosts several notable cultural events, including the Des Moines Metro Opera, which is recognized as a major American Summer Opera Festival.
The city also hosts the National Balloon Classic, an annual nine-day hot air balloon festival held during the summer months.
