Melbourne is a city in Brevard County, Florida, located approximately 72 miles southeast of Orlando on Florida's Space Coast. Named for its proximity to Cape Canaveral and the Kennedy Space Center, the city lies along the Indian River Lagoon, with most of its downtown and urban core situated inland, while a smaller portion extends to the barrier island.
