It is situated within both Weld and Boulder counties, with approximately 58% of its residents residing in Weld County and 42% in Boulder County. The town is part of the Front Range Urban Corridor and the Denver-Aurora-Greeley, CO Combined Statistical Area.
As of the 2020 United States census, Erie had a population of 30,038, representing a 65.64% increase since 2010. It holds the distinction of being the most populous statutory town in the state of Colorado.
