Žužemberk is a town in southeastern Slovenia, located roughly 50 kilometers southeast of Ljubljana. It serves as the administrative seat of the Municipality of Žužemberk and is situated in the historical region of Lower Carniola, now part of the Southeast Slovenia Statistical Region.
The town is positioned on the left bank of the Krka River and is visually dominated by a medieval castle that overlooks the settlement. The parish church, which was completely destroyed during World War II, has been rebuilt in recent decades, representing the town's post-war reconstruction.
