Rahimah

Saudi Arabia

Rahimah is a city in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia. It lies on the Persian Gulf coast, in the same part of the country as the better-known oil port of Ras Tanura, which sits on a peninsula extending into the Gulf. The nearest governorate to Ras Tanura is Qatif, and that area of the Eastern Province is generally considered part of the Qatif geography.

The city is part of a coastal strip of the Eastern Province whose economy and settlement patterns are closely tied to the petroleum industry. Ras Tanura, located nearby, serves as a major oil port and oil operations center for Saudi Aramco, and its name applies both to a gated employee compound and to the industrial area further out on the peninsula. The compound there has about 3,200 residents, including a few American and British expatriates.

Rahimah shares this Gulf-facing setting and its association with the region's oil infrastructure. It is one of several communities along the Eastern Province coast that fall within the administrative and economic orbit of Qatif and the surrounding governorates.
