Aluniș is a commune in Prahova County, in the historical region of Muntenia, Romania. It is located in the south-central part of the country, within the administrative framework of Prahova County.
The commune is composed of two villages, Aluniș and Ostrovu. Aluniș serves as the administrative centre of the commune, which is a common structure in rural Romania, where a single commune may comprise several smaller settlements.
As a commune, Aluniș represents the basic level of local administration in Romania, providing governance for both of its constituent villages. Its position in Prahova County places it within one of Romania's more developed and populated counties, though the commune itself remains a rural settlement.
