Mihai Viteazu

Romania

Mihai Viteazu is a commune in Constanța County, in the Dobruja region of southeastern Romania. It lies inland from the Black Sea coast, within the administrative territory of Constanța County, whose seat is the city of Constanța. The commune is named after Michael the Brave (Mihai Viteazu), the Wallachian prince who ruled Wallachia, Moldavia and Transylvania around 1600 and is regarded in Romanian history as a symbol of Romanian unity.

Like other rural communes in Constanța County, Mihai Viteazu is organised around one or more villages and functions as a local administrative unit with its own mayor and council. The surrounding area is part of the Dobruja plateau, a predominantly agricultural landscape of fields and low hills rather than the coastal resort zone.

Detailed historical, demographic and economic information about this specific commune is limited in readily available sources, so only its status as a Constanța County commune and the origin of its name can be stated with confidence here.
