Lares is a mountain town and municipality located in Puerto Rico's central-western region. It sits north of Maricao and Yauco, south of Camuy, east of San Sebastián and Las Marías, and west of Hatillo, Utuado, and Adjuntas. The municipality is administratively divided into 10 barrios plus Lares Pueblo, the urban center.
Lares is part of the Aguadilla-Isabela-San Sebastián Metropolitan Statistical Area, positioning it within a broader regional economic and demographic framework in northwestern Puerto Rico.
