Santa Maria is a city in the Cagayan Valley region of the Philippines. It is one of the settlements that make up this northern Luzon region, which lies in the northeastern part of the country and includes the provinces of Batanes, Cagayan, Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, and Quirino.
The city shares its name with several other places in the Philippines, including the much larger Municipality of Santa Maria in Bulacan, which is a separate and unrelated local government unit. Santa Maria in Cagayan Valley is a distinct locality and should not be confused with these other places of the same name.
As with other communities in the Cagayan Valley, the city forms part of a predominantly agricultural region sometimes called the country's rice granary. Detailed information about its population, barangays, and local history is limited in readily available sources.
