La Esperanza is a city in northern Peru, serving as the capital of the La Esperanza District within Trujillo Province in the La Libertad Region. It lies approximately 4 kilometres north of the historic centre of Trujillo, the regional capital and one of Peru's largest cities.
Its position adjacent to Trujillo places it within the broader metropolitan area of that city, making it one of the urban centres that form part of the Trujillo conurbation on Peru's northern coast. The city functions as the administrative seat of its district.
