Huancabamba is a city in the Pasco region of central Peru. It serves as a district capital within the region's administrative structure.
The city is located in the Andean highlands of central Peru, a mountainous area characterized by high elevation and a cool climate typical of the Peruvian sierra. Like much of the Pasco region, the surrounding landscape is dominated by steep terrain and river valleys draining toward the Amazon basin to the east.
Huancabamba is one of several small settlements in Pasco that share the name of larger or better-known places elsewhere in Peru, including the provincial capital of the same name in the Piura region of northern Peru. The Pasco city remains a minor administrative and local commercial center for its surrounding rural district.
