Morococha is a former town in the Junín department of Peru. It was located in the central highlands of the country, in the same region as the city of La Oroya and the departmental capital of Huancayo.
Between 2013 and 2025, Morococha's population and administrative functions were gradually transferred to Nueva Morococha, a planned community built about 6 miles (roughly 10 kilometres) away for the town's displaced residents. The relocation was carried out over this period, with the new settlement assuming the role of the original town.
As a result of this transfer, Morococha is no longer an active population centre in its original location, and Nueva Morococha now serves as the successor community for its former inhabitants.
