Quichuas is a small settlement in the Huancavelica region of Peru, located in the central highlands of the country. It lies within the Andean sierra, the mountainous interior where Huancavelica's towns and villages are concentrated at high elevation.
The name Quichuas is associated with the Quechua (also spelled Quichua or Kichwa) peoples, the indigenous South American groups who speak the Quechuan language family. That language family originated among the Indigenous people of Peru, and most Quechua speakers are native to Peru, though significant populations also live in Ecuador, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, and Argentina.
Huancavelica is one of Peru's regions with a substantial Quechua-speaking population, and place names of Quechuan origin are common across the region. Quichuas is a minor locality rather than a major urban centre, and detailed published information about it is limited.
