Yucay is a town in southern Peru. It is the capital of the Yucay District, which lies near the center of Urubamba Province in the Cusco Region of southern Peru.
The town sits in the Sacred Valley of the Incas, the Andean valley formed by the Urubamba River between the highlands around Cusco and the lower jungle slopes to the north. This part of the Cusco Region is known for its Inca archaeological remains, colonial-era churches, and terraced farmland, and Yucay lies within the same valley corridor as the better-known towns of Urubamba, Ollantaytambo, and Pisac.
As district capital, Yucay serves as the administrative center for its surrounding district. The area is reached by road from Cusco, roughly an hour's drive to the southeast, and lies close to the Urubamba River, which runs through the valley.
