Ocobamba is a city in the Apurímac Department of Peru. It is the seat of the Ocobamba District within the province of Chincheros, situated in the Andean highlands of south-central Peru.
The settlement lies at high elevation in rugged mountain terrain, a setting typical of the Apurímac region. Like much of the surrounding area, it is connected to the broader Andean road network that links rural communities with larger provincial centres.
Ocobamba shares its name with other places in Peru, including a mountain in the Vilcabamba range in the Cusco Region, but it is a distinct location. The city serves as a local administrative and commercial centre for the surrounding rural district.
