Mendoza is a town in Peru that serves as the capital of Rodríguez de Mendoza Province, one of the seven provinces of the Amazonas Region. The province lies in the southeast part of the department of Amazonas, in the country's northern Amazonian territory.
Rodríguez de Mendoza Province borders the province of Chachapoyas to the west and the department of San Martin to the north, east and south. It was created by law 7626 on October 31, 1932, with Mendoza designated as its capital.
As the provincial capital, Mendoza functions as the administrative center for the surrounding province. The province occupies a position between the Amazonas department's interior and the neighboring San Martin department, which surrounds it on three sides.
