El Parco District

Peru

El Parco District is one of the districts of Bagua Province in the Amazonas region of Peru. It is a small administrative district rather than a city, and it forms part of the provincial structure through which the Peruvian state organises local government in this part of northern Peru.

The district lies within Bagua Province, which sits in the Amazonas region in the country's north. Amazonas is one of Peru's northern regions, bordering Ecuador to the north and the Peruvian regions of Loreto, San Martín, La Libertad and Cajamarca. Bagua Province is the northernmost province of the region, and its districts, including El Parco, are located in the basin of the Marañón River and its tributaries, an area of tropical and subtropical climate on the western edge of the Amazon lowlands.

As a district, El Parco has its own local authorities and is one of the smaller administrative units within Bagua Province. Detailed published information about the district's population, area and settlements is limited, and the district is not widely known outside the region.
