Cuispes

Peru

Cuispes is a district in the province of Bongará, in the Amazonas Region of northern Peru. It is one of the twelve districts that make up Bongará Province.

The district lies in the cloud-forest highlands of the Amazonas Region, a part of northern Peru known for its rugged Andean terrain and its proximity to the Amazon basin. The area around Cuispes is mountainous, with elevations and vegetation typical of the transition zone between the Andes and the lowland Amazon.

Cuispes is best known for its natural scenery, particularly the waterfalls in its vicinity, which have made it a destination for visitors travelling through the Bongará area. The district remains a small, rural administrative unit centred on the town of Cuispes, with an economy and way of life tied to the surrounding countryside.
