Stoke is a suburb located within the Nelson Region of New Zealand. It is situated geographically between the areas of Richmond and Tāhunanui.
The suburb was named by William Songer, who served as the personal servant to Arthur Wakefield. The name was chosen to honor Songer's birthplace, Stoke-by-Nayland, located in Suffolk.
