Boca de Sábalos is a jungle port village of about 2,000 people in the Río San Juan Department of Nicaragua. It sits at the confluence of the Río Sábalos and the Río San Juan, and serves as the capital of the municipality of El Castillo.
The village was once a timber boomtown. Its economy now includes African palm, orange, and cacao plantations, along with an eco lodge and a hotel. The area is known as a destination for tarpon fishing.
Several private natural reserves are located in the surrounding area, including Reserva Silvestre Privada Montecristo, which is noted for birds and other wildlife.
