La Trinidad is a town and municipality in the Estelí department of Nicaragua. It is one of the smaller administrative units within that northern department, which lies in the country's central highlands near the border with Honduras.
As a municipality, La Trinidad comprises both the urban town itself and the surrounding rural areas under its administration. Estelí department, to which it belongs, is known for its mountainous terrain and cooler climate relative to Nicaragua's Pacific lowlands.
