Charanchi is a town and Local Government Area (LGA) in Katsina State in northern Nigeria. Located on the A9 highway, the town serves as the administrative headquarters for the LGA. According to 2003 data, the town has a population of approximately 79,000 residents, and the LGA covers an area of 471 square kilometers.
The Charanchi LGA was established in 1996, created from the former Rimi local government. The LGA is administered by a local government council comprising ten councillors, each representing their respective wards. These councillors hold the authority to impeach the Local Government Chairman should misconduct or misappropriation of government funds occur. The LGA chairman as of the source information is Alh.
