Álamo is a city in the state of Veracruz, Mexico, serving as the municipal seat of Temapache. Located in a region characterized by álamo (cottonwood) trees that grow along the Pantepec River—from which the city derives its name—Álamo was officially elevated to city status in 1973. According to the 2010 census, the city had a population of 24,159 inhabitants.
The local economy is primarily based on orange production, making agriculture a central feature of the region's economic activity. The city's position as the administrative center of the Temapache municipality establishes it as an important local hub in Veracruz's interior.
