Santiago is a municipality and city located in the center of the Mexican state of Nuevo León. The city is part of the larger Monterrey metropolitan area and covers an area of approximately 739.2 square kilometers (285.4 square miles). According to the 2020 census, Santiago had a population of 46,784 residents.
As part of the Monterrey metropolitan region, Santiago functions as a component of one of Mexico's major urban centers in northeastern Mexico.
