Cospicua, also known by its Italian name Bormla, is a double-fortified harbor city located in the Port Region of Malta. It is situated within the Grand Harbour to the east of the capital city, Valletta. Along with Birgu and Senglea, it constitutes one of the "Three Cities" that define this historic maritime area.
The city served as the primary port of Phoenician Malta and may have provided the original name for both the island and the country through various historical languages, including Greek, Latin, and Arabic. As of March 2014, Cospicua had a population of 5,395, making it the most densely populated city among the Three Cities. Residents of the area are known for speaking the Cottonera dialect.
