Birkirkara is a city located in the Eastern Region of Malta. It holds the distinction of being the second most populous city on the island, with a recorded population of 30,166 as of July 2026.
The city is composed of five autonomous parishes: Saint Helen, Saint Joseph the Worker, Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Saint Mary, and San Gorg Preca. Its official motto is "In hoc signo vinces," and its coat of arms features a plain red cross surmounted by a crown.
