Šalčininkai is a city in Vilnius County, in south-eastern Lithuania. It lies south-east of Vilnius, the national capital, and sits near the border with Belarus.
Its position in the far south-east of the country places it within the Vilnius region, close to the frontier that separates Lithuania from its eastern neighbour.
