Phongsali (also spelled Phongsaly) is a town in northern Laos and the capital of Phongsaly Province. It is the northernmost provincial capital in the country.
The town lies in the Phongsali region of Laos, in the far north of the country near the borders with China and Vietnam. As a provincial capital, it serves as the administrative centre of Phongsaly Province.
Its position as Laos's northernmost provincial capital is its most notable distinguishing characteristic, placing it at the upper edge of the country's settlement hierarchy in the northern highlands.
