Bondo is a municipality located in the Siaya County region of Kenya. Situated approximately 64 kilometers west of Kisumu, it was established in the early 1920s to serve as a market center.
The town serves as the largest and most populous urban center within Siaya County. In the 1990s, it was designated as the headquarters of the Bondo district after that area was partitioned from the larger Siaya District.
Historically, Bondo has functioned as a fishing town. The local economy is primarily centered around the fish trade originating from Lake Victoria.
