Hirara is a former city located in the Okinawa Prefecture of Japan on the island of Miyako. It served as a local administrative center within the region before its status changed in 2013.
As of 2003, the city encompassed a total area of 64.92 square kilometers and had an estimated population of 33,861 residents. The population density during that period was recorded at approximately 521.58 persons per square kilometer.
