Chatan is a town situated in the Nakagami District of Okinawa Prefecture, Japan. It covers a total land area of 13.62 square kilometers (5.26 mi2). As of October 2016, the town had an estimated population of 28,578, resulting in a population density of approximately 2,100 people per square kilometer.
A significant portion of the town's geography is occupied by military installations. Specifically, 53.5% of Chatan's total land area is covered by United States military bases.
