Fujiyoshida is a city located in the Yamanashi Prefecture of Japan, situated in the Kanto region. Positioned near the base of Mount Fuji and within the Fuji Five Lakes region, the city sits at an elevation between 700 and 900 meters above sea level. It experiences a climate characterized by milder summers than Tokyo and reliable snowfall during the winter months.
The city is recognized for its proximity to significant cultural and recreational landmarks. Notable sites include Arakurayama Sengen Park, which features the Chureito Pagoda, and the historic Kitaguchi Hongu Fuji Sengen Shrine. Additionally, the area hosts Fuji-Q Highland, a major amusement park known for its large roller coasters and themed areas.
Transportation to Fujiyoshida is facilitated by the Fujikyuko Line, which connects to the JR Chuo Main Line at Otsuki Station. The city is also accessible via the Chuo Expressway, providing routes toward Shizuoka and Nagano. As of May 2019, the city had a population of approximately 48,782 residents living across an area of roughly 121.74 square kilometers.
