Nanto-shi

Nanto is a city located in the Toyama Prefecture of Japan. Situated in a mountainous region, it occupies the southwestern corner of the prefecture, positioned just north of the Gifu Prefecture border.

The city covers a total area of 668.64 square kilometers (258.16 sq mi). As of February 28, 2018, Nanto had an estimated population of 51,669 people living in 17,761 households, resulting in a population density of 75.8 persons per square kilometer.

A notable characteristic of the city is that it serves as the home to the Gokayama UNESCO World Heritage site.
