Nanto is a city located in the Toyama Prefecture of Japan. Situated in a mountainous region, it occupies the southwestern corner of the prefecture, positioned just north of the Gifu Prefecture border.
The city covers a total area of 668.64 square kilometers and is home to the Gokayama UNESCO World Heritage site. As of February 2018, Nanto had an estimated population of 51,669 people living in 17,761 households, resulting in a population density of 75.8 persons per square kilometer.
