Gotō is a city located in the Nagasaki Prefecture of Japan. It encompasses the southwestern half of the Gotō Islands as well as the uninhabited Danjo and Hizen Torishima archipelagos situated in the East China Sea.

The municipality consists of 57 islands in total, including 11 inhabited and 52 uninhabited ones. The three primary islands that comprise the core of the city are Fukue, Hisaka, and Naru. While these main islands are located approximately 100 kilometers from Nagasaki, the additional archipelagos lie an additional 60 kilometers further to the southwest.

The city covers a total area of 420.81 square kilometers. As of March 31, 2017, Gotō had an estimated population of 37,775 residents, resulting in a population density of 90 persons per square kilometer.
