Nakamura was a city located in the southwestern part of Kōchi Prefecture in Japan. The municipality gained its status as a city on March 31, 1954, having been elevated from town status.
The area is situated along the banks of the Shimanto-gawa, which is recognized as the last free-flowing river in Japan. Additionally, the location was historically noted for its shrine.
