Nemuro is a port city and the capital of the Nemuro Subprefecture located in the Hokkaido region of Japan. A significant portion of the city's land area is situated on the Nemuro Peninsula.
The city covers a total area of 512.63 km² (197.93 sq mi). As of February 2012, it had an estimated population of 29,087 residents living in 12,966 households, resulting in a population density of 56.74 persons per km².
