Awara is a city situated in the Fukui Prefecture of Japan. It covers a total area of 116.98 square kilometers (45.17 sq mi) and maintains a population density of approximately 222 persons per square kilometer.
The city is notable for being one of the few "hiragana cities" in Japan. Additionally, Awara is well-known for its natural hot water springs and established onsen resorts.
