Adria is a town and comune located in the province of Rovigo within the Veneto region of northern Italy. Geographically, it is situated between the mouths of the Adige and Po rivers.
The site holds significant archaeological importance as the location of the ancient Etruscan city of Atria or Hatria. These remains are preserved beneath the modern city at a depth of three to four meters. Historically, Adria served as one of two ports and depots for Felsina, alongside the nearby settlement of Spina.
The name of the town may have originated from the Adriatic Sea or from the river Adria, which once flowed in the vicinity of the current location.
